Dare to include!

The abbreviations d.i. for intellectual disability or ASD for autism spectrum disorder must always be accompanied by the word person to talk about their condition according to a path that refers to neurodivergence. The preferred use is a person with an intellectual disability or presenting or living with an intellectual disability and a person on the autism spectrum.

The words concrete - impact - inclusion are used to talk about the showcase effect which is reciprocal and beneficial in eliminating differences. The words and gestures of Pleins Rayons serve to create an ecosystem of possibilities. Social inclusion is the act of activating young apprentices in order to allow them to see the power they have over the world and more directly over the community by concretely helping the people who make it up.

It is possible to distinguish social participation from a program, which only gives parents a break. According to the SQDI, work and education are designed to give young adults a role. Their journey must be well done. The organization wants, of course, to build them and not just entertain them. Apprentices are led to exercise benevolent actions, which is part of agency, by having recognition with feedback on the action. So, by feeling like a full citizen, young adults living with a difference become caregivers and give up the title of help. The objective is to generate positive mutual exchanges through relevant and concrete actions, which contributes to the agency and direct engagement, characteristics of the active social role.

The strengthening of autonomy, self-determination, social and professional skills occurs with the development of self-esteem and the feeling of belonging to the community. This is what inclusive hiring allows us to do. Inclusive hiring is also a characteristic of a company that pays fairly its employees living with an intellectual disability or the autism spectrum. The PDC Ready, Available and Able program is a pan-Canadian initiative that facilitates equitable access to work for all. Pleins Rayons follows the project and supports its mission in its own way. The workstations demonstrate the organization's creativity and its sense of innovation, whether inherent to projects or in its social role. To learn more, visit the Assorted Workstations page.

Also, each project has a positive environmental impact in the region through the recycling of material (bikes, wood, clothing, fabric, metal, etc.).
